The Comparative Effects of Antigastric Ulcer of Magnoliae Cortices

Abstract
Studies were apptmpted to compared the secretory effects of gastric juice, antigastric ulcer and analgesic effects of Magnolias Cortices which were defferentiated from origins(Manolia fooicinalis in China, Magnolia obovata in japan and Machilus thunber gii in Korea) according to their habits.
The water extracts(100, 200, 400§·/§¸) and methanol extracts(100, 200, 400§·/§¸) of them were orally administered after peroral dosing of indometacin(25§·/§¸), and the effects on the secretion of gastric juice, antigastric ulcer and analgesic effects were determined at 72 hour after indomethacin administration.
The results obtained were as followed :
1. The secretory volume of gastric juice were significantly decreased dose-independantly in the all experimental groups. Particulary methanol extract(400§·/§¸), of Magnoliae Cortex of China and Japan highly decreased the secretory volume comparing with control group.
2. pH of gastric juice were significantly elevated in the all experimental groups of Magnoliae Cortices(China, Japan) and Machili Cortex. Particulary methanol extract(400§·/§¸) of these habitats were more effective in elevating pH of gastric juice than other extracts.
3. Free acidity and total acidity of gastric juice were significantly decreased in the all experimental groups of Magnoliae Cortices(Japan, China) and Machili Cortex. Especially methanol extract(400§·/§¸) of Magnoliae Cortex of Japan and Machili Cortex were more effective in dereasing free acidity, and methanol extract(400§·/§¸) of Magnoliae Cortices(China, Japan) were more effective in decreasing total acidity.
4. Indomethacin-induced gastric ulcer were remarkably repaired by the all experimental groups of water and methanol extracts. Particulary water extract(400§·/§¸) of Magnoliae Cortices(China, Japan)and water(400§·/§¸) and methanol(200,400§·/§¸) of Magnoliae Cortices(China, Japan) and water(400§·/§¸) and methanol(200,400§·/§¸) extracts of Machili Cortex were effective.
5. The analgesic effects acetic acid induced Writhing syndrome were dose-dependantly arguemented by the all experimental groups of methanol and water extracts of Magnoliae Cortices(Japan, China) and Mahili Cortex. Especially water(400§·/§¸), and methanol extract(400§·/§¸) of Magnoliae Cortex of China were more effective.
